Looks like some tentative dates have been set for a few rockcrawling comps later in the year… OZ Rock and WE Rock have joined forces to put on some combined events. If the dates change I’ll update the site!
Round 1 - 27th,28th September - Willowbank, Qld
Round 2 - 25th,26th October - Bathurst, NSW
Final - 22nd, 23rd November - Walbundrie, NSW

The FireBug goes rear steer!

…well, I finally caved in. Got sick of those tight parks down at the shopping center, so decided it was time to add rear steer to the FireBug.
Solid Axel Industries built a Dana60 steering axel for us, and ABT4×4 and CTM helped out with a set of indestructible CTM shafts and uni joints. Steering cylinder and valving etc from POS, and all installed by Pip at Just Customs. Works a treat, and can’t wait to get her out on the rocks and have a play!
Just customs also straightened out the chassis after a big year last year, and added a bit of re-enforcing to stiffen the frame and enhance safety (you may notice all the new tube work). Also a few other little tweaks and tricks…
Still no word on when the competitions will kick back off, but we’ll be heading out to do some social wheeling and get some seat time pretty soon. Will be sure to post up some pics and details - maybe video - after we get out for a play.

2007 Season highlights video

Well, what a year… 3 event wins and a 2nd place finish, and second over-all in the OZ Rock series. We picked up some great new sponsors in Solid Axle Industries and Maxxis tires, traveled to events all over Australia and met alot of great people. So, what did ‘07 look like for Team FireBug?? Team FireBug takes 2nd at Round 5 of OZ Rock!

Wow… what a tuff weekend. Zach flew back from Thailand just to compete in the final round of OZ Rock for the ‘07 season, and we started the weekend on top of the championship points table. A tough day on Saturday, with a few near roll overs, and then a pretty big roll on a bonus line on the last course of the day. This put us way back in 5th place at the end of the day, so we had some work ahead of us…
After some re-grouping, we fought hard on Sunday to move back up the table. Some solid, clean runs got us back up there, and by the end of the day we were back in 2nd place. Another podium to finish off a very successful season.
Unfortunately Pete and Taz were just too good on the day, and pipped us for the championship. Team FireBug will be working hard over the off-season to come back bigger and better in ‘08. Keep an eye out for updates to see what surprises we will have for the competition in ‘08!

Team FireBug Wins Round 4 of OZ Rock!

Round 4 of OzRock was held this past weekend in Walbundrie (NSW), and Team FireBug backed up our Round 2 win at Walbundrie earlier in the year with another win!
16 top class teams at this event, and some awesome driving. I really enjoyed this event just for the driving I managed to see between driving our courses! All the top teams in Australia were there and all were firing. This was not a run away victory weekend like our last win at Walbundrie… it was a close battle from the first to the very last course.
We fought hard on day 1, and managed to finish the day in equal 1st place with Pete from OPW, and Adrian from Rock Solid Racing only 10 points behind us. We cleaned up our act on Sunday and managed to pull ahead a bit… by the end of the day we were 14 points up on Adrian and 28 points up on Pete. After a crazy top 4 shoot out where every competitor either rolled (hard) or broke something, we finished the day on top.
We were leading the Oz Rock series points before this round, so this win gives us more of a buffer as we head towards the finals on Dec 1/2 in Lara (close to Melbourne). Zach is off overseas for a while, so I will be breaking in a new spotter at the next round. Hope to see some of you there!

team firebug place 1st at Werock

Team FireBug cleaned up the competition at the first ever Australian rockcrawling competition on a man made course (at Eastern Creek raceway in Sydney, 11/12 August 2007). The competition was close all weekend, but we edged in front part way through the second day of competition and stayed there through the final shoot out.
Combined with our OZ Rock win earlier in the year, that makes 2 wins from 4 starts in ‘07 so far… next comp is Round 4 of Oz Rock in Walbundrie (near Albury) on the 13/14th October, 2007. For more info on the event check out the Oz Rock web site: (http://www.ozrock4×4.com.au)Â
